Interview With Author Kenny Fowers

What type of books do you write?  I write suspense/mystery

What is your newest book about?
My newest book, "Divine Verdict: The Trial of The Butcher" which is book 2 in the series, is about the trial of the bad guy from book 1 and the fact that trials aren't just a walk in the park. There are twists and turns and does "The Butcher" get convicted or go free? That is the question.

What inspired you to write it?  Actually it was one of my friends who I had beta read book 1 wanted the main bad guy to actually pay for the crimes committed and I liked that idea so I ran with it.

What is the writing process like for you?  I first get an idea for a book, then I do a simple outline so I know where I want to go. Then after that I start in on it. Most of the time, the characters tell me where they want it to go. I never understood that when authors said that until it actually happened to me.

What did you do before you became an author?  I was a security officer. I still am kind of. I work at a home for young boys with learning disabilities such as autism and the like. I do the night watch.

How does it feel to be a published author?  I love being a published author. It was a dream come true and I plan on doing it till I either run out of ideas or I physically can’t do it anymore.

Any advice for struggling writers?  Endure. It can get really hard and really frustrating, but it is worth it in the end. My first book took me 4 years to write. My second was only a year and a half. Don't give up!

Where do you see book publishing heading?  I see book publishing going more to indie publishing. That is getting huge now. Having said that, I don’t think the actual publishers have anything to worry about. There will always be people out there who won’t self publish and go with a standard publisher.
