Interview with Author Donna Palm

Dream Bigger, Live Better

1. What really inspired you to write your book, to force you from taking an idea or experience and conveying it into a book?
Originally I wrote my book because so many people kept asking me how in the heck I was able to redesign my life especially so dramatically and all while being a single mother with two small children. I was tired of constantly retelling the story so I decided to write it down. As I started writing the book I realized how much I had to share most of it from personal experience and the book took on a life of its own.

2. What is it about and whom do you believe us your targeted reader?
My book is a very realistic book about following your dreams and redesigning your life. It is complete with a blueprint to put actual structure to the reader’s dreams. It is structured as an actual instruction book as to the process, not just a feel-good "fluffy" type book. My book is designed for anyone who wants more out of life and does not want to settle for mediocrity. Readers who are ready to take action and not settle.

3. What do you hope will be the everlasting  thoughts for readers who finish your book? What should remain with them long after putting it down?
My life has been forever changed due to the experiences of my readers. They make me feel like my life is worthwhile. Because I took the time to write the book so many lives have been affected and changed, the stories warm my heart and amaze me. It reminds me that we're all connected and everyone makes a difference. It is an amazing feeling to know just by taking the time to actually write down my experiences and thoughts that I could make a difference in so many lives. I hope my readers will realize their significance in the world and feel the joy of sharing their life and dreams with others.

4. What advice or words of wisdom do you have for fellow writers?
Don't wait, do it now. I find I cannot write as fast as I think so I use a voice-activated microphone to get all my thoughts into the computer. Then I can copy, paste, rearrange and edit them into actual chapters and a book format. Also, be careful when you decide to publish. Do not give away your copyrights unless you believe it is really worth it.

5. What trends in the book world do you see and where do you think the book publishing industry is heading?
I see books as becoming more progressive. There are so many more talented writers being published thanks to the internet, the ease of publishing and printing on demand. I know Kindle and other formats are becoming so popular, easy and cost-effective to use. However there will always be those of us who are old school, who love to fill our shelves with the feel and smell of actual physical books. Hey they brought record albums back didn't they?

6. What great challenges did you have in writing your book?
My greatest challenges were initially organizing my thoughts and formatting the book. Next I had to work out the logistics of ISBN numbers, the Library of Congress, and choosing a method of publishing in which I did not have to give up my copyrights. Then I had to decide what the best ways were to let the world know my book exists

7. If people can only buy one book this month, why should it be yours?
If people were going to buy one book this month it should be Dream Bigger Live Better- The Second Edition, because my book actually achieves results. It is not a believe it and it will happen book. My book has an actual blueprint to follow. If my readers are willing to read, follow and put the blueprint in place they will achieve results. You cannot just dream it in order to achieve it, you must take action by putting structure to the dream and then acting upon it.

Biography
Donna Palm has mastered the art of dreaming big dreams and living life to its fullest. Her journey from homelessness and living in her car, to owning two successful RE/MAX real estate offices, becoming an inspirational author and speaker as well as her many other entrepreneurial ventures including owning a hair salon and becoming one of the first woman industrial electricians in her local union, is an inspiring story of perseverance and triumph over challenges. Donna is an inspiration to single mothers everywhere, as well as anyone who desires to follow their dreams. In 2002, as a single mother of two very young children, she moved across the country, without a job and without knowing anyone, in order to follow her dream of raising her family in paradise. Completely changing careers, within three years she was the proud owner of two successful RE/MAX franchises. Never one to sit still for too long, Donna has become the master of redesigning her life. She believes “You only live once, you have to cram it all in while you can”. Donna now shares with others how to reinvent themselves and redesign their lives using a method she calls “Blueprinting” in memory of her many years as a union electrician, building oil refineries, chemical plants and nuclear plants, by following the blueprints for their design. According to Donna, designing your life is no different than designing a building, it’s all in the planning. Always known to have a rebel soul, Donna continues to break barriers doing things in ways that have never been done before. “Someone has to be first, why not you?”. “In my dreams I want to be a breath of fresh air, inspire others to follow their dreams and live the most fulfilling life possible. I want others to believe in their own possibilities without self-imposed limits; and to see for themselves their unlimited potential.
